About Inspiring Minds Group CIC

Our Vision: Empowering Lives Through Essential Education

Inspiring Minds Group CIC exists to create opportunities, open doors, and empower individuals of all ages to thrive through financial education, entrepreneurship, and neurodiversity-inclusive support.

Founded by award-winning entrepreneur and bestselling author Shirleyann Haig, Inspiring Minds evolved from the success of the Inspiring Women Wirral network, a powerful community of female founders who openly share their experiences, challenges and successes. Through these conversations, one thing became clear:

The most important skills for life,  financial literacy, emotional resilience, self-awareness and flexible career pathways are the ones we are least likely to learn in school.

We are changing that.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

Since launching, we have developed and delivered impactful programmes designed to unlock potential and celebrate neurodiversity, including:

Every initiative is designed to be engaging, inclusive, and relevant to real life, giving participants skills that support independence, wellbeing and future success.

Our Social Purpose

As a UK-registered Community Interest Company, every penny of profit is reinvested into:

We are committed to ensuring no young person is left behind because traditional education wasn’t built for them.

The Vision Ahead

2025 marks a year of expansion as we digitise our learning materials and grow our reach nationally, making our programmes accessible to parents, educators and young people across the UK.

We are actively seeking supporters, partners and funders who believe in a more inclusive future.

Together, we can build a world where every mind has the chance to shine.

Collaboration Over Competition

At Inspiring Minds Group CIC, we believe that the most meaningful change happens when passionate organisations work together. Our mission has always been to unite rather than divide, to create partnerships that amplify impact, open new opportunities and empower every learner.

A shining example of this is our collaborative relationship with Elaine Bowker, Principal and Chief Exec of City of Liverpool College. Elaine has been a strong advocate for our vision from day one and continues to play a key role in shaping our journey.

Her support has included:

Her belief in our work reflects the value of collaboration that puts community first.

We are incredibly proud of the respect, trust and shared ambition we have built with Elaine and with the school leaders and educators we partner with across the region.

Together, we are:

We are excited about the future, a future where collaboration continues to fuel innovation, inclusion and transformation for all the young people and families we serve.

When we lift each other, we lift the whole community.

Kate Bowater

Director

Katie Bowater is an internationally recognised speaker, bestselling author, and multiple award-winning young entrepreneur who is redefining what success looks like for the next generation of business leaders. After a career-ending injury dashed her dreams of representing Great Britain in water polo, Katie transformed adversity into ambition, launching her first business at just 18 years old.

Now the founder of three thriving businesses, including the Young Entrepreneurs Club, Katie has built one of the fastest-growing communities for 18–35-year-olds in the UK. Through events, masterclasses, and powerful networking spaces, she is on a mission to make entrepreneurship less lonely, more accessible, and full of collaboration.

As a co-director of Inspiring Minds Group CIC, Katie plays a vital role in shaping programmes that deliver financial education, entrepreneurship pathways and confidence-building skills to young people across the UK. She has worked directly with colleges and community partners to develop and deliver real-world training that empowers students to build their own futures.

Katie is also a bestselling contributing author, sharing her story in national publications that amplify the voices and experiences of female entrepreneurs. Her influence and community impact have earned her multiple major recognitions, including Merseyside Woman of the Year, cementing her place as a rising leader within the region’s business landscape.

Harriet Wignall-Parry

Company secretary and accountant

Harriet is an award-winning speaker, bestselling co-author and Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of experience supporting small businesses, nonprofits and individuals to build financial confidence and sustainability. Her career includes senior leadership roles as Director of a local accountancy firm and Head of Accounts for a national practice serving more than 13,500 clients, where she managed and developed a team of over 60 finance professionals.

Having worked closely with charities and community organisations from the very beginning of her career, Harriet is known for her warm, supportive approach and her ability to translate complex financial concepts into practical, empowering guidance. This passion inspired her to establish her own accountancy business — providing accessible, people-first financial support to those who need it most.

Harriet currently serves as Treasurer for two charitable projects; one supporting families of neurodivergent children in disadvantaged areas, and another offering essential services to individuals experiencing bereavement, trauma and domestic abuse.

As part of Inspiring Minds Group CIC, Harriet plays an instrumental role in the creation and delivery of our financial education programmes, ensuring young people gain the skills, knowledge and confidence traditional education often overlooks.

Harriet is also a co-author of the Amazon bestselling book Limitless: Inspiring Women Redefining Success and an award-winning speaker who advocates passionately for financial literacy, inclusion and community empowerment.

Her mission is clear:

To make financial knowledge accessible to all, because confidence with money can change lives.
